Jesse Sutherland (She/Her)

Co -Founder & Principal Consultant

     Jesse Sutherland is a consultation expert with over 5 years of experience in stakeholder relations, event management, education and training, government and public relations, and campaign management. With a deep commitment to progressive values such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, Jesse has a proven track record of helping organizations navigate complex challenges in the post-secondary, non-profit, government, and corporate sectors.


     Jesse’s journey began as a student leader, serving as Vice President of Advocacy and later President of the Mount Saint Vincent University Student Union in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She went on to represent Nova Scotia as a provincial representative for the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) and held several national staff positions with the CFS, culminating in her role as Director of Stakeholder Relations. These roles allowed Jesse to hone her leadership and advocacy skills, excelling in stakeholder engagement, event planning, public relations, and strategic planning.


     As the Founder and Principal Consultant of Canadian Consulting Solutions, Jesse brings a unique blend of lived experience, leadership, and strategic insight. She has led numerous national and provincial initiatives, guiding clients in developing effective strategies to drive positive change. She has also successfully organized and managed a wide range of events, including national and provincial conferences, multi-day events, fundraising initiatives and complex membership meetings.


     Focusing on the Canadian market, particularly in the post-secondary sector and non-profit sector, Jesse offers tailored consulting services to various organizations including universities, student unions, and nonprofits. Her extensive experience in forming strategic partnerships and managing public relations efforts makes her a trusted advisor for organizations looking to amplify their impact.


     Jesse is passionate about driving meaningful change, she helps clients build stronger connections with stakeholders, navigate policy landscapes, and implement effective strategies that align with their values.

James Casey(He/Him)

Co-Founder & Lead Consultant

 

     James Casey is the Research and Policy Analyst at the Canadian Federation of Students. He has worked for over 10 years in the non-profit sector focused on anti-poverty, student and youth advocacy. Working on and managing political and education campaigns since 2017, James has specialized in political management, legislative and parliamentary affairs, government relations, research and policy analysis, communications, and financial and fundraising management.

 

     James brings over a decade of extensive experience in political management, legislative affairs, and government relations. His journey commenced as a dedicated volunteer in his local Member of Parliament’s office during high school. Since then, he has held pivotal roles, including serving as a parliamentary assistant, a Policy Analyst at Public Services and Procurement Canada, and a Social Policy Researcher.

 

     Notably, James played a crucial part at the Canadian Federation of Students, where he passionately advocated for historic investments in education and spearheaded transformative changes to the international student program. His expertise spans financial management, rigorous research, and effective communication strategies.

 

     Driven by a commitment to social justice, James fearlessly addressed exploitation schemes targeting Punjabi international students, even testifying before the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration.

Today, James leverages his multifaceted background to provide innovative solutions for both groups and individuals seeking positive change.
